Hawkeye Point in Iowa is a typical Midwestern highpoint, located near the western edge of the state in the middle of cornfields. It even has its own grain silo.

The summit approach

It is less typical in its full embrace of its highpoint status. Surrounding the marker are signs indicating the direction and distance to all of the other highpoints. The site also has a viewing platform halfway up the grain silo, so that you can see over the corn.

Reminders of trips past

The pleasantly landscaped area offered seating, such as the bench you can see behind us, but we decided to sit right on the marker itself.
