Hoosier Hill, Ohio 1,257 feet |

It's not uncommon for a state's highpoint to be near its border with a neighboring higher state (see: Florida, Connecticut, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma). Still, it's surprising when the neighboring higher state is Ohio, not a state renowned for its lofty elevations.
Hoosier Hill is surrounded by a small grove of green trees at the edge of a cornfield about one mile from the Ohio border. We drove west from Campbell Hill until we crossed into Indiana, then followed country roads south parallel to the border (similar to the trip to Mount Sunflower).
The highpoint is marked with an engraved stone.
To reward ourselves for the completion of two highpoints, we checked into the JW Marriott, a luxury hotel in Indianapolis. Our room on the 31st floor put us at nearly the same elevation as Hoosier Hill but with a much better view.
We really enjoyed Indianapolis, one of those places we might never have visited if not for our highpointing. We walked along the canal, had the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian & Western Art nearly to ourselves, and spent a lovely afternoon at the art museum and gardens at Newfields.
Having visited Campbell Hill and Hoosier Hill, we have just one highpoint to go: Black Mesa in Oklahoma.
